Looking forward – a blog post from our CEO Lauren

For over thirty years Kidscape has worked tirelessly to keep children safe and I start my new role as CEO with a great sense of responsibility. Kidscape strives to understand and respond to the most pressing risks that children face today; a constantly evolving challenge that we must continue to meet.

Preventing bullying has always been at the core of Kidscape’s work – vitally so – as it is of primary concern to so many children and young people. Whether it’s an actual experience of bullying, or a fear of bullying, it is at the forefront of children’s minds.

That is why Kidscape has given strength and courage to thousands of children across the country through their ZAP anti-bullying and assertiveness workshops.

While all forms of bullying, including concerns around online risk, remain a priority, Kidscape also provides support in other important areas: comprehensive safeguarding training for professionals working with children both in the UK and overseas, and a new programme of work to protect children from risks of radicalisation. I’m confident that Kidscape will bring the same passion and dedication to existing challenges, as well as new.

As we look to the future, we will not flinch from asking difficult questions, provide challenge where necessary, turn words into action and always keep the best interests of children at the heart of our work.
