International training

We are pleased to be able to offer our new suite of CPD accredited safeguarding and child protection courses specifically designed to meet the needs of all staff working in British Schools Overseas.

The training meets the requirements of the Department for Education, Standards for British Schools Overseas inspection process, as well as taking into account the differing cultural and legal contexts within which they operate.

All staff working in British Schools Overseas are required to undertake appropriate basic safeguarding and child protection training that is regularly updated. This includes not only teaching staff but support and ancillary staff who come into contact with children.

Advanced safeguarding and child protection training is a requirement for all Designated Safeguarding Leads as well as their deputies and it is good practice to include other members of the senior management and governance team. This training needs to be updated at least every two years.

“Thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended and fantastic feedback about the trainer.” The British School of Paris

Why Kidscape?

Kidscape are a UK based charity who have been working tirelessly to tackle child abuse and bullying since 1985. By providing training, support and advice to children, parents, schools and those in professional contact with young people, we enable them to gain knowledge and develop the confidence and skills to challenge abuse and bullying in all its forms.

  • 80% of the international schools that we work with are returning customers
  • 100% of schools rated our international trainers’ knowledge as either good or excellent (90% thought it was excellent)
  • 100% of schools rated the relevance of the training as being either good or excellent (80% thought it was excellent)

Kidscape has delivered training to British international schools for many years and has worked across the globe to ensure that young people are kept safe. We work closely with COBIS and are members of the BSME and FOBISIA.

Our approach to training

We employ experienced safeguarding professionals from a range of backgrounds to deliver training on behalf of Kidscape. Whilst ensuring that the core messages are consistent we also look at the needs of the school and the country within which they operate to ensure that the training they receive is relevant and engaging.

We ask that training is limited to a maximum of 75 delegates per session for basic level training and 25 for an advanced session. We believe that safeguarding is such an important issue that we want to allow delegates the opportunity to engage with activities, ask questions, discuss and debate issues rather than have us simply delivering content.

“All excellent – the trainer was excellent.” The British Junior Academy of Brussels

Our pricing structure

We try and keep costs to a minimum and offer very competitive rates.

  • For training in Europe we require a minimum booking of one full day.
  • For international training we require a minimum booking of two full days.

We also ask that the school arrange and pay for flights, accommodation and internal transfers. Expenses and UK travel will also be charged at the point of invoice. VAT will be added where applicable.

We encourage schools who are based near to each other or who have an existing relationship with each other to coordinate their Kidscape bookings to reduce travel costs, and, for advanced training, we are happy to deliver to safeguarding leads from different schools together.
