Where are the RISE workshops held?

RISE workshops in Summer 2018 are being held in Birmingham, BristolLondonManchester and Newcastle upon Tyne. These will be hosted in Primark stores in central locations.

What time do the RISE workshops start and finish?

  • 1:30-4:30pm

What is the structure of the day?

The RISE workshops are for children moving up to Year 7 in September. The workshops are facilitated by members of the Kidscape team and supporting volunteers. The workshops will include a number of interactive sessions to help children build confidence and self esteem as they prepare to move up to secondary school.

How much does it cost to attend a RISE workshop?

Nothing. RISE workshops are funded through our charitable donations.

Does a parent or carer need to attend on the day?

No. However if your child has an additional support need that means they require parental/carer assistance during the session we will of course support this.

Do I need to declare that my child is on medication?

Only if your child will need to self-administer medication on the day. Please let us know in the application form.

Should I notify you in advance if my child has special needs or a disability?

Yes, please let us know in the application form so we can provide appropriate support.

Do I need the school's permission to bring my child to RISE?

No. RISE workshops are delivered in the holidays by the Kidscape team and volunteers.

Can I bring another child with me on the day?

No. We are only able to include those children booked onto the course and do not have the resources or facilities to look after other siblings.

What age will the other children attending the workshop be?

All children invited to attend RISE will be moving up to Year 7 in September.

Will my child be asked about their bullying experience or any other personal experience during the workshop?

No. Kidscape staff and volunteers will not expect children to share their own personal experiences.

How many times can my child attend a RISE workshop?

Due to the amount of children who are much in need of support, unfortunately young people can only attend RISE once.

Can we stay in touch with other children attending the RISE workshops?

Your child may make lasting friendships through the RISE workshops, but due to confidentiality reasons, we cannot share contact details of RISE attendees. They would need to make their own contacts on the day.

What help can you offer children and families after attending a RISE workshop?
