Extremism and Radicalisation Awareness (EARA)

Kidscape’s Extremism and Radicalisation Awareness (EARA) programme was delivered in secondary schools across London from June 2017 to March 2018. Thanks to our Department for Education funders, we were able to provide a comprehensive package of support at no cost to schools in select London boroughs.

The EARA programme features a 3-stage model to help schools safeguard students against the risk of radicalisation.

The 3 Stages

  • Stage 1: 3-hour training session for specialist school staff (SLT, pastoral leaders, SEN lead, safeguarding leads).
  • Stage 2: Two classroom workshops for year 9 students. The first led by Kidscape trainers, with the second being teacher-led with Kidscape trainer support. The teachers observe Kidscape delivery and would then be required to repeat the double lesson with at least one other class of students.
  • Stage 3: A choice of wider-school initiatives that embed radicalisation and extremism awareness into school systems.

Kidscape supplied all the necessary resources to empower teachers to deliver the EARA programme in their own schools.

The EARA programme has now been converted into a training package for school leaders and pupils that Kidscape offers as part of its wider training programme for schools. For more information please email
