The Spectacle Wearer of the Year awards is an annual celebration of specs appeal. Over the years, the awards ceremony, the brainchild of Specsavers founder and Kidscape patron Dame Mary Perkins, raised half a million for Kidscape, and we're delighted to say that Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2018 raised an astounding £105,000. This incredible gift will help change so many young lives, and we couldn't be more grateful.

The star-studded gala awards was a night of joy. The Kidscape team made new friends and reconnected with old friends such as Dame Mary, and long-serving Spectacle Wearer of the Year host Rylan Clark-Neal.

We encouraged celebs to celebrate their friendship. Former X-Factor hosts Tulisa and Louis Walsh came together, as did Love Islanders Laura Anderson and Samira Mighty! We've got pictures over at our Facebook album, please check them out!

At the end of the night, Shane Haron was crowned Spectacle Wearer of the Year, winning a £10,000 prize and a £1000 wardrobe of Specsavers glasses. Shane works as a mind coach and personal trainer, and challenged the negative beliefs in his head to enter.

"I was bullied as a child, so know the impact that can have on you as an adult, and having the chance to support others makes me feel very lucky."

Well done, Shane. And once again, an enormous thank you to Specsavers and Dame Mary Perkins for their continuing support of Kidscape.
