Kidscape... small charity, BIG IMPACT

A message from Sheila King, Kidscape Trustee

I became a trustee of Kidscape several years ago.

I was involved in teacher training at the University of London’s Institute of Education and my teenage sons had also volunteered for an anti-bullying helpline, so I was aware how devastating bullying can be.

Kidscape is a small charity and that brings challenges and advantages.

We are able to target spending at specific projects and make every donation count towards supporting young people and their parents or carers. Through our helpline and face-to-face anti-bullying workshops we learn what issues are of key concern and can react quickly to support the individual.

Similarly with school staff and other professionals direct contact enables training to be modified to best effect.

Small charities do not have the luxury of economies of scale and finances are often more stretched than with large charities.

We are proud of our direct work with children and families across the UK and know that, despite our size, we are making a real difference to the lives of the people we support.
