Volunteering

Volunteering at Kidscape is a chance to get experience in the charity sector and make a real difference to children's lives.

There are lots of ways to get involved with our work, from cheering on a marathon runner to volunteering at one of our workshops. Whether it's minutes or months, hours or days, the time you give really does matter.

As a Kidscape volunteer, you will:

  • Get great experience
  • Learn new skills
  • Make new friends
  • Receive necessary training for your role and have access to ongoing training
  • Make a meaningful difference to young people and families affected by bullying

How to volunteer at Kidscape

1) Find a role

Look at what we have available. Some roles require a specific amount of time or skill set. The role description will give you more information.

2) Contact us

For most roles, we ask for a CV and a short statement outlining why you are interested in the role.

If we want to take your application further, we'll invite you to meet us for a chat. It's a chance for you to find out more about the role and the organisation. We can also get to know you better and find out how we can match your skills and interests with our volunteer opportunities.

3) Receive training and support

All volunteers will have an induction and if needed specific training for a role. Staff members will always be on hand to provide ongoing help and support.

Volunteering FAQs

I can’t find a suitable role. Am I still able to help?

Contact the Programme and Volunteering Manager at volunteering@kidscape.org.uk or call 020 7730 3300 and we can discuss your requirements.

Can I claim expenses?

Volunteers should not be out of pocket as a result of volunteering for us. We reimburse reasonable travel costs to and from the organisation, travel while volunteering and other expenses by arrangement.

My company encourages me to volunteer. Can you help?

There are many ways in which you can volunteer, either as an individual or as a team. If you can't find what you are looking for or want to discuss your requirements in more detail, please contact us at volunteering@kidscape.org.uk

What if I have a criminal record?

As an organisation committed to equality and diversity, we recognise the contribution that all people can make as employees or volunteers, and so we welcome enquiries of interest from everyone. For roles where you will be working directly with young people we will ask for a DBS check to be carried out. These are reviewed and assessed on a case by case basis.

How can I prove I'm a volunteer if someone asks?

Volunteers in some roles will receive a photo identity card but not all volunteers will be given one. If anyone questions you, call us on 020 7730 3300 and we'll verify that you're a volunteer.
