Anti-Bullying Week 2010

Cyber bullying is a relatively new challenge for teachers working in schools. Teachers need to be equipped not only to keep their students safe but also themselves.  With over a third of teenagers reporting being cyber bullied and a growing number of teachers becoming victims of cyber influences such as social networking sites, there has never been  a more important time for all school stakeholders to educate themselves about cyber communication.

Within this section you will find teachers’ lesson plans for both Key Stage 2 and 3. The aim of both plans is to raise awareness of cyber bullying by allowing students to explore various themes.

We have also designed a range of activities for primary school children to participate in.
Include Cathies activities for primary school children ..magic box etc

To support anti bullying week and the theme of cyber bullying we have produced a set of four creative posters – three aimed for older students and one for primary school children. We have received many positive comments from school staff including;

“The cyber bullying poster is a great resource for our school as it will enable us to use it as a starting point for discussions regarding internet safety during PSCHE and ICT lessons. A group of our Year 6 pupils looked at the poster and said it was colourful, bright and eye catching. They voluntarily began a discussion on the different areas. We are looking forward to using it with the rest of Key Stage 2.”

“The lesson plans are very good also. We would use them with pupils in Year 4 and upwards.”

Our anti-cyber bullying resources also include glow in the dark wristbands which you are able to purchase for your school.
