Anti-Bullying Week and Friendship Friday
Anti-Bullying Week is back! From the 13th - 17th November, schools across the country will be making a noise about bullying. With free lesson plans, assemblies and more, you can celebrate in your school and help bring bullying to an end.
What is Anti-Bullying Week?
Anti-Bullying Week is coordinated in England and Wales by the Anti-Bullying Alliance. Last November, 80% of schools marked the week, reaching over 7.5 million children and young people. That's a big impact!
What's the theme?
The theme this year is 'Make A Noise'.
This is because, too often, we are silent when we see bullying take place, silent about the hurt bullying causes, and silent when we hear bullying dismissed as ‘just banter’. It doesn't have to be this way.
Of course, we won’t like everyone and we don’t always agree, but we can choose respect and unity.
This Anti-Bullying Week, let’s come together to have discussions about what bullying means to us, how banter can turn into something more hurtful, and what we can do to stop bullying.
How can I get involved?
There are lots of ways to get involved! We've got resources for:
-
Early Years - download our free Elmer pack bursting with activities, stickers, a colouring sheet and more to help children learn about friendship
-
Schools and Communities - lesson plans, assemblies, posters and book lists to help you make a noise about bullying in your school
-
Parents and Carers - free activities, a friendship pack and advice on what children should do if they see someone being bullied
-
Businesses and Organisations - take part in the biggest anti-bullying event in the year! Take a look at our comms pack to find out how to get involved.

What is Friendship Friday?
Friendship Friday takes place on the Friday of Anti-Bullying Week each year and is an opportunity to celebrate friendship and promote positive relationships. It's a chance for everyone - in school, at home, in the community or online - to reach out to others.
Of course, you don't have to wait until Friendship Friday! You can reach out to your friends to show you care, and encourage your children to do the same. Send an e-card to show your friends you're thinking of them, or get some inspiration from our Reach Out pack. It's full of activities and ideas, whether you want to show some love to close friends or reach out to someone you haven't seen in a while.
Celebrate in style!
Our friends at SOCKSHOP are supporting Friendship Friday again this year with sales of the lovely Elmer the Elephant Bamboo socks available in men's, women's and kids' sizes. Even better, 10% of the RRP comes to Kidscape to help support our anti-bullying work.
For the Elmer fans in your life, stocking fillers, or for anyone who likes to wear lairy socks, you can purchase them on the SOCKSHOP website.
How else can I help?
We are enormously grateful that many schools and supporters raise funds for Kidscape during Anti-Bullying Week and throughout the year. Every penny you donate help us prevent bullying and protect young lives.
