Kidscape, the anti-bullying charity is launching a new guide to stop bullying.
The launch will coincide with a conference on May 9 entitled Teachers & Bullying: Protect Yourself & Your Students.
The Guide, How to Stop Bullying, is funded by Marks & Spencer's Christmas card appeal. (You see - some appeals do get results!) It gives over 90 practical anti-bullying exercises to use with children and young people aged 5 to 16.
The conference will focus on bullying from the viewpoints of both teachers and students. The keynote speaker will be Marjorie Evans, Headteacher from Wales, wrongfully accused of hitting a child and exonerated after a long ordeal.
The Senior Solicitor from the National Union of Teachers, Graham Clayton, will address the concerns of school staff about bullying.
Practical methods of helping students will also be covered, including peer mentoring and ways of handling poor behaviour
