Following Claude Knights' announcement of her retirement, we are delighted to say that Lauren Seager-Smith will be joining us as our new CEO in January 2017.
In recent years Lauren has led the work of the Anti-Bullying Alliance, based at the National Children’s Bureau, providing leadership across the sector, delivering high impact programme work to tackle bullying and coordinating the Anti-Bullying Week campaign in schools each year.
Previous to this she managed an education advocacy service in North London with Save the Children, has worked in behaviour support with early teens and started her professional life coordinating overseas youth volunteer placements with GAP Activity Projects.
Lauren has an MA in Education: Culture, Language and Identity from Goldsmiths College, University of London and a BA Hons in English Literature from the University of Sheffield. Lauren has a well-established profile in the anti-bullying and children’s sector, is a regular public speaker and media spokesperson and never misses an opportunity to champion the rights of children to a life free from bullying and abuse. Lauren is also privileged to be Mum to two lively children and is a trustee of her local food bank.
Our outgoing CEO Claude Knights says:
"I am thrilled to be passing the torch to Lauren who I know to be an enthusiastic, committed and talented anti-bullying and child protection champion. While I plan to continue my support of Kidscape's vital work, I welcome Lauren wholeheartedly as our new leader. I am confident that she will deliver our mission and enhance our impact and reach."
Lauren Seager-Smith adds:
“It will be an honour to join Kidscape as CEO in the New Year. We are very fortunate in the UK that we have a thriving anti-bullying community, that’s dedicated to child protection and united in passion and conviction. I very much look forward to working with the incredible team at Kidscape and their many supporters, to empower and protect young lives."
