DCSF help to fund Kidscape
Kidscape is delighted to announce that we have received
a generous grant from the Department
for Children, Schools
and Families (DCSF) for £280,000 over three years. The
grant will help severely bullied children overcome the traumas
they have experienced so that they can begin to lead normal lives
again.
Kidscape will give an innovative assertiveness course
we call ZAP to over 8000 children, and follow up with monitoring
to measure the outcomes.
The pilot studies we have done
have shown that bullying is stopped completely or reduced significantly
for almost 90% of the children who complete the course. Parents and families
are also involved in sessions, and learn skills to help their
children continue their progress at home.
No other organisation is doing this work, and we are pleased
that the DCSF has recognised how important it is to return children
to health so they feel they can continue their education
and feel safe enough to flourish.
