Stream for Kidscape

Be a game changer! Here's how to stream for Kidscape and help protect children from bullying.

1. Pick a challenge

Gaming pro? Total newbie? It doesn't matter! Choose a challenge from the ideas below, or come up with your own.

  • Defy adversity. Play a game that you've never seen before, are completely hopeless at, or even hate! It will be even more of a challenge, and there are likely to be a lot of laughs along the way.
  • Game by numbers. Play for five hours for the one in five children who have experienced online bullying. Feeling brave? Play for ten instead.
  • Do your thing. You don't have to play games to stream! Whether you're a dab hand at dancing, a fitness fanatic or a brilliant baker, set yourself a challenge that's tailored to what you do best.

Once you know your challenge, pick a time when people will be online to watch you. Jingle Jam runs from the 1 - 14 December, so you can choose a date that works for you.

(Whatever you're planning, please be mindful of the cause and your audience. We're a children's charity here to champion safe and inclusive communities. You mustn't use any kind of racist/sexist/discriminatory language in your stream. We strongly advise that any child under 18 is accompanied by an adult and gets permission from a parent or guardian first. You can read some guidelines for parents from the streaming platform Twitch here.)

2. Set up your fundraising page

You can set up a page on a platform like Tiltify or JustGiving

3. Set up your stream

Got a plan for your challenge? The next step is to set up your stream. For this, you'll need a Twitch account. If you don't have one already, you can create a Twitch account by clicking 'sign up' in the top right of this page

You can also download streaming software, either OBS or Streamlabs. Streamlabs is more simplified and user-friendly, but more demanding for your PC to run.

4. Shout about it

Don't forget to shout about what you're doing!

We've got graphics you can use with your posts. You can download them from our Streaming Toolkit.

Stuck for words? You could try something like this:

I'll be streaming at [LINK TO STREAM] to fundraise for @Kidscape, the anti-bullying charity! Join me at [DATE AND TIME] to donate and protect young lives.

Tag us @Kidscape on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram and we'll shout about the amazing work you're doing!

5. Get streaming

When the time's come, you can start streaming! We've got a Kidscape Guide to Gaming to help you. Head to the section called 'Get Gaming' to give you ideas and tips on how to run the livestream.

Your stream will help us make a real difference to the lives of children and young people who are impacted by bullying.
