Saying No!

It's only a little word, but a very powerful one. If you feel threatened, or unsafe you should never be afraid to use it. If you find it hard to do, then practise.

Stand in front of a mirror each day. Stare at it as if you want to melt it. Check you are standing straight and tall, with head up, shoulders down and feet well balanced. Take a deep breath, and say, ‘NO’!

Now say it again, in a louder deeper voice. Now say it to someone, with eye contact, standing properly. ‘NO!'

Remember, there are ‘good' friends and ‘bad’ friends. ‘Good’ friends will understand and respect your boundaries, ‘Bad’ friends or ‘fair weather' friends are not worth making yourself miserable over.

If you’re not sure if someone is a ‘good’ or ‘bad’ friend, ask yourself:

‘If I was him/her, would I treat me like this?’ and you’ll have the answer.

You don’t have to be aggressive – just firm.

SAY 'NO!'
