Think about changing behaviour
Richard had no undesirable behaviour to change, unless you count his
sensitivity. I wouldn't call that bad behaviour - just a result of having
been bullied before. He had to be careful not to think everyone was trying
to get at him.
It wasn't easy for Richard, but he found that he made more friends if
he shrugged things off and didn't react to silly little things that bothered
him. For example, the boys might come up and say "hello freak"
to each other. They didn't really mean anything by it, but you can see
if you were bullied that this would seem to be aimed at you personally.
It wasn't - they all called each other that. Yes, it was a stupid remark,
but not worth making a big deal about or taking personally.
Some people have to change their habits if they want to make friends.
Things like
- having a quick temper
- being bossy or refuse to share
- farting
- burping
- picking your noses or spitting
- being smelly
- having disgustingly dirty hair or fingernails
Don't be surprised if people avoid you if you don't take care of yourself!
Will it work?..
