THINK ABOUT HOW MANY FRIENDS HE WANTS
Richard doesn't have to find hundreds of new friends, one or two will
do nicely. Some children and young people seem to have thousands of friends;
others just a few.
Hamish, aged 10 "I like having lots of friends around me and always
going somewhere and doing something fun."
As far as Hamish is concerned, the more the merrier and he isn't happy
unless there is action most of the time.
Fiona age, 12 "I've only ever had one or two close friends. I like
being on my own or doing something with Sue or Lizzie."
Fiona has always had a few close friends and likes to get together to
talk or go to the cinema or play a game of chess or just go for walks
in the woods.
Even if Richard decides in the end that he wants lots of friends, it
is best to start with finding one or two. It is less stressful and more
likely to succeed.
