Decide on a plan

Think about our skills

The first thing Richard need to do is to work on his 'people skills'. If he would like to make new friends, he can make sure he:

  • has good eye contact. Looking in a pleasant way at people show shows you are interested in them.
  • listens to what the other person says. Listening is an important skill. Everyone likes for other people to pay attention to what they say - it makes them feel good.
  • looks friendly. No one wants to be around someone
who glowers and emits unfriendly signals. Sometimes
you may need to act friendly, even if you don't feel that way. You may have to be an actor and pretend.
  • practices his opening lines when approaching another person. "What did you think of the English test?"
