Peter Carne taught Geography in three London comprehensive schools for 14 years.

In 1990 he was appointed Head of Greenwich's Environmental Curriculum Service, before joining Learning through Landscapes (LTL) in June 2000. LTL is the national school grounds charity.

Through research and advocacy, membership services and resources, projects and programmes, LTL support schools and practitioners to develop and use school grounds for play and learning, and to enhance the physical, social and emotional development of pupils.

LTL in London works across the capital with schools, public and voluntary sector partners and corporate sponsors to:

Raise awareness of the importance and potential of school grounds
Provide membership services to schools and practitioners · Deliver training
Carry out research and develop policy and strategy
Develop and manage specific school grounds projects and initiatives
