I'm a bully and would like some help

Are you an adult?

• You can contact the Andrea Adams Trust
• Ask yourself why you bully

Are you under 18?

• Ask yourself why you bully. Reading the Beat Bullying leaflet may help
• Assertive behaviour can help you get what you want more easily than bullying -
• Try to find new interests that will take you away from bullying
• Tell yourself you're a good person who doesn't hurt others

I lash out and say cruel things when I'm angry. What can I do?

• Count to 10
• Think before you speak. Ask yourself
  • Is what I'm going to say true?
  • Does it need to be said?
  • Would I like it if it was said to me?
• If the answer to any of the above is "No", bite your tongue and say nothing
• Walk away from the situation
• How do you feel about yourself? If you "feel bad" and have low self esteem then maybe you can try and solve the situation. You can get some ideas in the leaflet You Can Beat Bullying - this will also give you some idea of how it feels to be bullied.
