Fundraising Tips

Here are some tips to help you and your school get the most out of your fundraising event.

Keeping it Legal

Whether you’re hosting a raffle or organising a party, make sure you check your local authorities’ guidelines for fundraising, as well as the safety guidelines and regulations.

Making it Public

Ask for permission to post flyers on community bulletin boards. Make sure you include the date, time, location, our web address, and charity number. Don’t forget that some churches, doctors’ offices, and even hairdressers have community boards as well!
Don’t be afraid to make the news! Journalists are always looking for fresh, new stories of people giving back to the community. Try to contact your local paper and let them know what you are doing.
Send the media your own press release telling them about Kidscape and how you are taking part of our 25 for 25 appeal. Use a quote from a key organiser and a photo of the event. Don’t forget to send your contact details!

Finding Sponsors

When trying to find sponsors, ask everyone you know! Even the smallest sponsorship can make a difference. Set a target and let them know what you are trying to achieve. They are more likely to donate if they know their donation can help you reach your goal. If you are writing to potential sponsor, always include a self-addressed envelope. Remember to follow up with a thank-you card!

Just Giving

Receiving donations is simple with a JustGiving page. Your school can create its own personalized page to encourage others to donate. It’s as simple as going to www.justgiving.com/Kidscape and setting up an account!

Gift Aid

Don’t forget about Gift Aid! Gift Aid allows Kidscape to gain back the tax from every charitable donation. It’s as simple as ticking the Gift Aid box on our sponsorship form or on your JustGiving page.
